If a character is taken, they are taken. Please do not use pictures of them to create an original character. We do not welcome twins or clones at Charenton.

When you post your application, make sure you have all parts filled out correctly. If you need help, please ask by either leaving a comment here or contacting a moderator seperately.

Sometimes people need hiatus, either for a lack of their muse or for personal reasons. We respect your need for a hiatus and if you plan on taking one, please post here. You can have up to four weeks of a break.

Storylines that are seen as morbid are permitted here. However, please check OOC with all parties involved. Do not have so&so rape so&so without their player's permission. M-preg is impossible. Slash and heterosexual love are supported here. Women's pregnancies are allowed. Since this is just a RPG, we will bend the 9 month pregnancy to a 5 month pregnancy.

No one dies. Sorry to disappoint. Charenton is very secure and the facilities are of a high enough quality that your character will be kept alive. You either get transferred to a different hospital, get stuck in the nurse's station for a long period of time, or get released from the hospital.

Though the ward rules state that patient/staff relationships aren't allowed, things happen. Feel free to start them but keep relationships like that toned down. Don't let word spread too fast.

Marriage is not allowed in patient/patient relationships. If a staff member and a patient get wed off of the premises or in secret at the church, there's not much that the head psychiatrist can do. Once it's done, it's done. Just remember that it's rare for patients to go off of the grounds.

Divorces take three weeks to process. During that time, your character can not get remarried.

Staff positions include nurses, security guards, and psychiatrists. Check this page to see which positions there are rooms left for.

If you are playing staff, please try to act as professional as you can with the patients. At a normal hospital, there are evaluations to make sure staff is not hindering the patient's growth. We won't do that here, we'll just put faith in you. If you have a problem with how someone is being played, PM this account.

Additionally, your character is not famous. They are just normal boys and girls, men and women, stuck in a mental hospital. If you wish to play someone who is dead (Hendrix, Joplin, Carlin), that is perfectly alright.

Make sure you have disabled IP logging in your character's journal by clicking here and switching the settings. People with multiple characters will thank you.

Supernatural beings also do not exist here. No one here can start fires with their minds, nor can the move objects without actually giving it a shove. This is not The Xavier Institute for Higher Learning.

As stated on the front page, this is not a rehabilitation clinic. If your character's only problem is that he/she is addicted to coke or booze, this is not the place for them.

These ocassionally change so please keep track of where you are. If you would like to request a room swap, please let one of the moderators know. Also, please present a valid reason. Room mates and neighbors are a good excuse to meet other characters.

Need something you can't find anywhere else? Advice? Want to run something by the mods? Comment here. Please be aware we can't always say yes. This is one of the top mental hospitals in the states, after all.

This is a good place to ask if your character can have something snuck in to the hospital (marijuana, a razor, a pencil, an mp3 player, etc.) Please have a good backstory as to how your character came to own the item.

Also, if your character felt the need to raid some medication from a nurse's station? This would be the place to ask if that's okay.

Are you a staff member that needs to be reassigned to a different ward or you just would like a change of pace? Please comment here. Staff members tend to stay in the same wing, even after the monthly room changes.

All of the journals affiliated with charentonaslm are completely ficticious. None of it is meant to be passed off as real. The writers have creative licensing; some may use it to the extent where there characters are not like that of the person they may be portraying.
